Speaking of Art festivals at the Station

Gil Bennett and the poster
You know, of course, that this weekend is the Ogden Arts Festival at Union Station.

This is an annual celebration, with lots of booths, artists, music and other fun stuff. You can get the whole schedule by clicking this link (CLICK!) and I hope to see you here.

Speaking of art, in the archive this morning I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing railroad artist Gilbert Bennett. Gil did the illustrations for the book Railway Reflections (click!) which you can still buy in our gift shop and ticket booth, so don't buy it from Amazon, that's just to show you how cool the book is.

Gil was here to sign posters of one of his illustrations showing the D&RG 223 underway. The 223 is sitting behind Union Station, slowly being restored by Golden Spike Chapter of the R&LHS.

To help the effort, Gil signs the posters and you can buy one for a mere $50. He was here to sign more, and if you guys will all buy one the effort will be well underway.

You can click on the link at this page (CLICK) to order the poster, or come to the Union Station Archive on Tuesday or Thursday morning and Lee Witten will sell you one.

And get down here for the arts fest. Always a fun time.
